Words are recognized incorrectly: improve recognition
If ParusVoice gets individual words or names wrong, three things usually help: the right microphone, the right languages and your dictionary.
The microphone
The Mac’s built-in microphone is marked “Recommended” under “Settings” > “Audio input”. Bluetooth headphones like AirPods switch to a mode with lower audio quality when recording. If recognition varies, compare one sentence with both microphones. Details in Choose a microphone and dictate with AirPods.
The languages
Open “Settings” > “General” > “Dictation language”. Set your main language and, under “Which other languages do you dictate in?”, add the languages you also speak. This improves recognition of exactly those languages. More in Dictate in several languages.
The dictionary
Enter names, company names and technical terms in the dictionary. If you correct a word after a dictation, ParusVoice also learns the spelling on its own. See Add names and terms to your dictionary.
The text at the cursor
With “Use text at the cursor”, ParusVoice picks up spellings from the text around your insertion point. If a name is already spelled correctly there, ParusVoice writes it the same way in your dictation. The switch is under “Settings” > “Data & privacy” and is on by default.
When no text arrives at all
If ParusVoice reports “No text recognized.” or “The recording received no audio signal.”, nothing is reaching the microphone. Check the selected device and microphone access, see Allow microphone access and turn on Accessibility.
