How a dictation travels.

Microphone only while dictating

The microphone opens for a single dictation and closes again afterwards. There is no listening in the background.

Sent: recording and context

For a dictation, the app sends the recording, the selected languages, the dictionary and the text around the insertion point to the server, encrypted. Sending the text around the insertion point can be switched off in the app.

Assistant: only the selected text

When you rephrase text or ask the assistant, the selected text goes to the server with your question. ParusVoice reads no other window content for this.

No screen recordings

ParusVoice takes no screenshots. It detects the frontmost app locally on the Mac and sends only the type of app, never its name.

On the servers: account and usage

Stored are the account, the dictionary and usage data such as the duration and character count of a dictation. Card details are held by the payment provider.

On the Mac: the history

Text and audio of every dictation stay in the history on the Mac. How long is up to you, down to not storing it at all. Entries can be deleted one by one or all at once.
