Dictate in several languages

Updated 3 October 2026

ParusVoice recognizes over 60 languages. You can switch languages within one dictation, for example to quote a German sentence in an English message. You don’t need to change anything for this.

Set your languages

Open “Settings” > “General”. Under “Dictation language”, choose your main language and add languages you speak often.

Your selection helps recognition, but it doesn’t limit you. If you mostly speak English with German terms, choose English as your main language and add German.

An example

Say: “The feedback from Berlin was clear: Wir brauchen den finalen Entwurf bis Freitag. So I’ll send it on Thursday.”

The German sentence stays German, the intro and the ending stay English.

Dictate in several languages or translate?

Multilingual dictation writes each language the way you speak it. If your whole text should appear in another language, use live translation. The assistant translates existing text: select it and say “Hey Voice, translate this into German”.

Main language and app language

Your main language decides whether the German or the English commands for Edit by Voice apply.

The “App language” setting only changes the labels in ParusVoice. It takes effect after restarting the app and is independent of your dictation languages.
