Translate into another language while dictating
With live translation you speak in one language and write in another. For example, you dictate an English message and it appears in German in your email. Live translation is part of Pro.
Turn on translation
- Open ParusVoice and choose “Live translation”.
- Under “From”, choose the language you speak.
- Under “To”, choose the language the text should appear in.
- Turn on translation and dictate as usual.
You can quickly change the target language from the ParusVoice menu in the menu bar. The “→ DE” label shows that German output is active.
An example
| You say | The text reads |
|---|---|
| “We’ll be in London on Saturday. Shall we meet for coffee at three?” | Wir sind am Samstag in London. Treffen wir uns um drei auf einen Kaffee? |
The translation follows what you say. The exact wording may differ.
In both modes
In Default mode you read along at the top of the screen and get the translation when you release the key. In Live mode the translated text appears sentence by sentence in the document.
Good to know
- The switch stays on even when you change apps. Turn it off again in the “Live translation” section or in the menu bar.
- Edit by Voice commands that look for a passage, such as “select …”, are blocked during translation. Spoken commands are available when you speak German or English.
- In a specialty module, translation pauses. The specialty dictation stays in the spoken language.
- The assistant translates existing text.
