Connection lost: your dictation is saved
ParusVoice needs an internet connection for recognition. If it drops during a dictation, ParusVoice saves your recording on your Mac and transcribes the text later. Your dictation isn’t lost.
When the connection drops
ParusVoice ends the recording and reports “Connection lost – recording stopped, recovering your dictation …”. If the connection comes back quickly, your text appears as usual.
If that doesn’t work right away, a card shows “Dictation interrupted. Recording saved.” Click “Open recording” to jump to the entry in the history.
Transcribe the text later
- Open ParusVoice and choose “Home”.
- Find the entry “Dictation interrupted – recording saved”.
- Click “Transcribe” once you’re back online.
From the entry you can also listen to the recording, export it as audio or discard it. If you set retention to “Don't store locally”, you see “Restored – not saved to history” with “Copy text” instead.
Without internet
Without a connection, no new dictation starts. ParusVoice then reports “No internet connection. Dictation is currently unavailable.” You can still read, copy and listen to your history.
Why ParusVoice recognizes online
The best recognition and language models are too large for a laptop. Models running locally understand less and make apps several gigabytes heavy. So ParusVoice processes your dictation encrypted in data centers in the EU; our own servers are in Vienna. Audio isn’t stored in the process. More in History, retention and privacy.
